Mechanisms of immunological tolerance in central nervous system inflammatory demyelination.
Multiple sclerosis is a complex autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that results in a disruption of the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signals in the immune system. Given that central nervous system inflammation can be suppressed by various immunological tolerance mechanisms, immune tolerance has become a focus of research in the attempt to induce long-lasti...
متن کاملPeripheral mechanisms of neuropathic pain – involvement of lysophosphatidic acid receptor-mediated demyelination
Recent advances in pain research provide a clear picture for the molecular mechanisms of acute pain; substantial information concerning plasticity that occurs during neuropathic pain has also become available. The peripheral mechanisms responsible for neuropathic pain are found in the altered gene/protein expression of primary sensory neurons. With damage to peripheral sensory fibers, a variety...
متن کاملTumefactive demyelination.
We present a case of 22 year old female who had pulmonary tuberculosis followed by tuberculous meningitis and tuberculomas in past. This time she presented to us with right hemiparesis and altered sensorium. Diagnosis of tumefactive demyelination was made on the basis of typical MRI findings. Patient showed good response to steroids.
متن کاملChronic demyelination-induced seizures.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) patients are three to six times more likely to develop epilepsy compared to the rest of the population. Seizures are more common in patients with early onset or progressive forms of the disease and prognosticate rapid progression to disability and death. Gray matter atrophy, hippocampal lesions, interneuron loss, and elevated juxtacortical lesion burden have been identif...
متن کاملP72: Hesperetine Nanoparticles Ameliorate Glial Activation and Reduce Demyelination Llevel of Rat Optic Chiasm in Lysolecithin-Iinduced Demyelination Model
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most autoimmune neurological and inflammatory disease in worldwide. Demyelination and disturbance of action potential conductance are regarded as main signs of MS disease. Hesperetin (Hst) is one of the flavonoid that have neuroprotective properties. The present study attempts to evaluate the effects of hesperetin or its nanoparticle on myelin repair and gl...
